Hihi

On one of my earliest visits to Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne, we were privileged to have a close encounter with a pair of Hihi (Stitchbirds).

The image shows a bird perched on a branch. The bird has a black head with a distinctive white patch on the side. Its body is mostly dark with bright yellow and white markings on its wings and tail. The bird has a green band on its leg, indicating it might be part of a study or conservation program. The background consists of a natural setting with green moss, brown leaves, and twigs.
